HORGEN, Switzerland, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Dow (NYSE: DOW) is announcing today it will close its 170 mm lb Ethylbenzene (EB)/ Styrene unit in Sarnia, Canada. The shut down of the facility will be effective April 30, 1998. An internal economic review shows that given its age, small size and outdated styrene reaction technology, the unit is no longer cost competitive. The closure will not affect jobs at the site.
Styrene derivative plants on the Sarnia site are unaffected by this announcement.
