NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard & Poor's CreditWire 11/14/97 -- Standard & Poor's today assigned its double-'B'-plus long-term and single-'B' short-term local currency counterparty credit ratings to Banco Santander Mexicano S.A. At the same time, Standard & Poor's assigned its double-'B' long-term and single-'B' short-term foreign currency counterparty credit ratings to the bank. The foreign currency rating is constrained by the United Mexican States' (UMS) double-'B' foreign currency rating.

The outlook on the local currency rating is stable. The outlook on the foreign currency rating is positive.
