Nov. 10--The Arizona Republic reported the largest circulation rise among the nation's top 15 newspapers during the last six-month reporting period, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
Daily circulation at The Republic increased 13.6 percent to 442,484 in the six months through September. The gain of 53,051 readers was aided by the closure in January of its sister paper, The Phoenix Gazette.
Aside from the gain of 35,000 Gazette readers, circulation at The Republic grew a healthy 1.94 percent, said Leon Levitt, circulation director for The Republic.
