CLINTON - Thursday at 10 p.m., Kevin West began a new chapter in his life, as a retired Clinton police officer.
While the official retirement date is May 31, he has worked his last shift, after 32 years wearing a badge in Clinton.
He wanted to be a police officer in Clinton since he was young.
"I recall it beginning in my mother's business on Berlin Street," West said this week. "There was an accident out front. I went to look and one of the local cops handed me a whistle. I made up my mind then."
It is a lesson he carried into his own police career.
