Thailand s Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal from the Ministry of Finance to borrow US$1 billion from the World Bank for use in reviving the economy and developing basic infrastructure projects, a government spokesman said.
Mr. Vachara Kannikar said the planned borrowing of US$1 billion is part of $2 billion the Council of Economic Ministers had on April 1 approved to borrow from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The government is expected to seek the remaining US$1 billion from both the ADB and JICA at a later date. The ...
