The expansion of the rail transportation in Africa is driving demand for new locomotives as trade expands.

This is according to the General Electric (GE), a US firm whose rail business in Africa is positioned to make contributions to the continents rail industry.

According to the Citizen News, the American firm supplies technology products and services to several African rail companies, such as the pan-African rail utilities, Cameroon Rail Authority (CAMRAIL) and the Tanzanian/Zambian Railways Authority (Tazara).
