THE GOVERNMENT HAS closed down a Nicosia car-park being illegally-operated on Turkish Cypriot-owned land, and is "slowly regaining control over all similar properties", the Cyprus Mail was told yesterday.
Yiorgos Matseopolouos, Senior Officer of the Nicosia District Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service, said that the government had been forced to contest a very long drawn-out court case against a private company which claimed to be renting the land -- located close to St.Paul's Church in Grigori Afxentiou Avenue -- from its Turkish Cypriot owner.
