Nov. 13--With the contrails of departing Western Pacific Airlines having hardly dissipated over Colorado Springs, another upstart start-up airline seems poised to fly into the void.
AccessAir, based in Des Moines, Iowa, could begin nonstop jet service from Colorado Springs to the West Coast -- and one-stop flights to the East Coast -- early next year.
That is, if it ever gets off the ground.
The timing could depend on whether AccessAir can access the financial backing of the Springs business community. Airline executives hope to tap the area for more than $3 million.
