BROADCASTER Pat Kenny said he knew he'd always be in Gay Byrne's shadow for as long as he presented The Late Late Show.

But the host, 61, feels he has done a good job keeping the iconic programme at the top of the ratings for the past decade.

In an interview with the RTE Guide, Pat said: "Even if I did [The Late Late Show] for 37 years there is in people's minds a golden age and that was 'the bishop and the nightie' - a very short segment now preserved in amber.
