THE judges were unable to separate two entries that brilliantly demonstrated the principles of sustainability.
Architects Jane Darbyshire and David Kendall Ltd (JDDK) won a competition to design the RSPB's and Teesside Environmental Trust's visitor centre at the new wildlife reserve and discovery park at Port Clarence on Teesside.
Given the nature of the attraction and the organisations behind it, it was no surprise the brief demanded the highest attention to environmental sustainability, particularly around climate change.
