Dec. 1--Rumors are rampant among Nob Hill Foods employees that President Michael Bonfante will sell the Gilroy-based and family-owned 26-store chain to Northern California/Nevada grocery giant Raley's supermarkets, a family-owned chain ranked in the Forbes Fortune 500 of top private companies.
Nob Hill employees in Gilroy and Salinas and employee union representatives have heard no official word from management on any such sale, but they are all aware of the circulating rumors.
Nob Hill officials have refused to comment on any questions regarding a possible buy out or negotiations regarding a possible buy out.
