IT(tm)s time the GAA wised up to the fact that we(tm)re in the middle of the worst recession any of us can recall.
Everyone in the sport will be affected in some way and as the recession deepens so county boards, clubs and players will all feel the pinch.
GAA President Nickey Brennan is wise in warning GAA units to seriously review their spending and to make the necessary adjustments.
Players for the most part are reasonable men and they don(tm)t need reminding that sport isn(tm)t immune to what(tm)s happening to the global economy.
The only way forward is to sit down with the players and work it through.
