THE General Assembly of the International Union of Railways (UIC) elected a new management team on March 31 to bring to an end an internal crisis which resulted in the appointment of an administrator, who has run the organisation for nearly a year.
Mr Yoshio Ishida, vice-chairman of JR East, has been elected as chairman, with Mr Mauro Moretti, CEO of Italian Railways (FS), as vice-chairman, and Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, chairman and CEO of SNCF International, to the new position of director general. Mr Luc Aliadiere has stepped down as chief executive, and Ms Beatrice Dunogue-Gaffie has ended her term as administrator.
