EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
THE 10 largest health insurers in Southern California have 9.5 million members combined spread across Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, Imperial and San Diego counties. Membership is down slightly compared with a year ago.
Four of the plans on the list are set up as non-profit health plans, including perennial leader Kaiser Permanente. L.A. Care Health Plan is a noncommercial health plan that provides coverage for county residents, and is the largest public health plan in the United States with 760,000 members.
