Dhaka, May 21 -- The maternal and neonatal morality rate remain high in Barisal Shere Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Sources in SBMCH said 128 mothers and over 800 new born baby died during the last 16 months in the hospital alone.
They said 5,126 pregnant women were admitted to the hospital during the period and of them 3,755 mothers delivered baby through caesarian and 795 through normal process.
Of them 74 mothers gave birth to twins, three delivered quadruple. The highest number of 16 babies died in October last year.
Hospital sources said the common causes of death of mothers are postpartum hemorrhages, eclampsia, complications, ...
