FIDO, FLUFFY, Bubbles or Polly ... our pets have cute names and a hold on our hearts. We tend to think of our domesticated animals as quasi-humans. We use baby talk and even buy them clothes.
Why do we do this? It's simple: They provide unconditional love and companionship.
This becomes even more important as we age in our homes. Kids leave home, the house becomes quieter and we may even have lost a spouse. A pet provides much-needed comfort and security.
