Article: If you're a constant worrier, you may have anxiety disorder: generalized anxiety disorder can cause health problems if not treated properly. Don't ignore the symptoms.(MENTAL HEALTH)(Disease/Disorder overview)

As many as one in 10 American adults over age 60 have anxiety disorder, but many are never diagnosed or treated, brushing off their symptoms as "natural" or "normal" worries and concerns. "Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is characterized by chronic, excessive, uncontrollable worrying about many things in life and leads to significant distress and impairment," says Susan Evans, PhD, a professor of psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College. "The central defining feature of the disorder is worry; people with GAD tend to move from one worry topic to another and often worry about worrying."
