Johns Hopkins University appointed Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) member Lillie D. Shockney, RN, BS, MAS, the Distinguished Service Chair, making her the first woman and nurse to hold the position. A special awards dinner was held in her honor, where she received a plaque from Edward D. Miller, MD, dean of the School of Medicine, and William Brody, MD, president of Johns Hopkins University. The plaque had the following engraving, signed by Brody.
