Construction crews plan to begin work soon on a $19.8 million alternate landing surface at the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport.
The airport authority's board of directors Wednesday awarded the low bid to APAC-Tennessee Inc. Scott Van Laningham, airport chief executive officer, assured authority members that local workers would be employed during construction.
Airport Director Kelly Johnson was pleased the bid was about $2 million less than original estimates. The airport has $10 million in new federal appropriations coming in October and has about $7.8 million in federal stimulus money, both of which will pay for the ...
