Dec. 5--Paul Harris Stores Inc.'s same-store sales plunged 11 percent in November from a year earlier, snapping a string of 21 months of increases.
The Indianapolis-based retailer of women's apparel was among more than a dozen apparel retailers and department stores Thursday to report declines or only small increases in same-store sales, or sales at stores open for more than one year.
Retail analysts say the reports suggest that Christmas shoppers are snubbing some full-price retailers for discounters like Wal-Mart and Kmart, both of which reported same-store sales gains of more than 5 percent.
