Dec. 3--THERE MIGHT BE SOME TROUBLE BREWING down at the South Street Plaza, between 9th and 10th streets, that could make many people quite unhappy. Fresh Fields -- the store of choice for the environmentally conscious -- has been slowed by landlord-tenant issues.

While there had been dish that the deal was a dead one, Fresh Fields' Chris Hitt said yesterday that the natural food chain is "totally committed to the site" which is controlled by local partners Max Berger and Howard Lander.
