Dec. 3--It's deja vu all over again at the Coffee Plantation.
The Canadian company that owned the coffeehouse chain sold it this year, to a Portland, Ore., company called Coffee People. But Coffee People's expansion plans didn't work out, and it put itself up for sale a few months later.
The buyer: Second Cup Ltd. of Toronto. It's a corporate name that seems appropriate in this deal because it was the company that sold the Coffee Plantation in the first place.
"We're glad to be involved with them again," said Alton McEwen, president and chief executive of Coffee People's U.S. operations.
