Article: Scottish Equitable AAA Ratings Affirmed by Standard & Poor's

LONDON, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's today affirmed its triple-'A' local currency counterparty credit and claims-paying ability ratings on Scottish Equitable PLC. The ratings reflect the company's integral position in the triple-'A' rated AEGON group of companies. On a stand-alone basis, Scottish Equitable has a strong level of capitalization and strong business position, excellent expense management, and very good financial flexibility. Partially offsetting these strengths is the company's dependence on pensions business and Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) distribution and the recent decline in customer service levels.
