This is a time of caution for Scandinavian companies. Following the recession of the early 1990s, most Nordic exporters are still concentrating on their established markets. The EU accounts for by far the largest proportion of trade, while for those companies seeking new opportunities, the markets opening up in Central and Eastern Europe ensure that they do not have far to look.
