For more than 15 years, the Ventura Music Festival has brought a steady stream of talented musicians and artists to this quiet seaside town, just 60 miles north of Los Angeles, striving to adapt and change with the economic climate in order to maintain funding for its outstanding programming.
Most recently, the festival, a nonprofit 501(3)(c), was awarded a $50,000 grant by the Irvine Foundation under its Creative Connections Fund for its 2009 and 2010 seasons to increase festival diversity through crossover performances, events, and education outreach.
