Krauss-Maffei has been one of the pioneers of compact disc development since 1982. In the early eighties, when CD manufacturing was still an exciting undertaking, Krauss-Maffei eagerly participated in the development of fast and reliable injection molding machines. In 1982, the normal cycle time was at an incredible 28 seconds! Gradually cycle time was cut down to 18 seconds by using a new sprue removal system, a short time later KM had the first machines on the market running a cycle time below ten seconds.
