PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, a division of American Home Products Corporation (NYSE: AHP), announced today that a new thin-wall needle for Bicillin(R) C-R injectable penicillin has received marketing clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Bicillin C-R is marketed by Wyeth-Lederle Vaccines and Pediatrics, a division of Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories.

The new thin-wall needle, designed to help reduce injection site discomfort, is 20 percent shorter than the previous needle used for pediatric patients and has 22 percent less skin surface area penetration.
