Rajkot, May. 22 -- At least eight people were wounded and several vehicles and shops set ablaze in arson and violence in four tahsils of Junagadh district of Gujarat today, following clashes between supporters and opponents of newly elected BJP MP Dinubhai Solanki.
According to police, the chain of violent incidents, apparently due to poll rivalry between Mr Solanki and his Congress rival Jasu Barad, started at Lodvah village in Sutrapara tahsil, when the BJP leader's vehicle was stoned while his victory procession was being taken out. Besides injuring eight persons, the Congress workers reportedly smashed glasses of five cars.
