Exam markers will hold discussions to unify standards and reduce discrepancies before they check examination papers for liberal studies, the Examinations and Assessment Authority says.
Liberal studies is a new core subject under the new secondary 3-3-4 education system, and officials are concerned that different teachers will have varying standards in marking open-ended questions.
The subject, based on critical thinking, aims to teach students how to ask questions, analyse current affairs, interpret statistics and generally think outside the box. Subject matter knowledge is irrelevant, as students are graded on how well they ...
