TIMBER flooring product maker Ekowood International Bhd expects this year and the next to be challenging.

Ekowood group managing director Tan Aik Sim said the global economic crisis had affected demand and caused its order book to slow down by 30 per cent.

"We expect the current and subsequent quarters as well as next year to be very challenging.

"Nevertheless, the company will continue to boost efficiency, increase timber yield, relook cost structure and explore new emerging markets such as eastern Europe," he told reporters in Selangor after the company's annual general meeting yesterday. Ekowood reported ...
