Moscow, May. 26 -- Kyrgyzstan has closed its border with Uzbekistan after shots were heard coming from its neighbour's Andijan province, Russian media reports said today.

A spokesman for Kyrgyzstan's Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti news agency that a shootout was reported today in the border town of Khanabad in Uzbekistan, and that several people were believed to have been injured.

''From the Kyrgyz side near the border crossing, traces of blood can be seen on the territory of the neighbouring state,'' a Ministry spokesman said.
