Dec. 9--Central Carolinas Bank will provide banking services for the 200-plus U.S. Postal Service branches in the Carolinas.
The deal comes as the postal service tries to reduce the number of banking relationships it has. Treasurer Stephen M. Kearney said the Postal Service has accounts with almost one half of the nation's 10,000 banks.
Previously, York County post offices used First Union National Bank in Charlotte, according to Postal Service spokesman Mark Saunders.
