Immersion Corp., a provider of haptic (touch feedback) technology, announced that Mako Surgical Corp., a provider of robotically-assisted orthopedic surgery, has obtained a worldwide license to Immersion's haptic patents for use in its orthopedic robotic products.
Mako is the first surgical robotics licensee for Immersion.
Worldwide robotic markets amounted to $626.5 million in 2007, reached $1 billion in 2008, and are forecasted to achieve $14 billion by 2014. (Piribo).
