While two types of lipids, LDL and HDL cholesterol, are common health topics, a third type--triglycerides--has gotten less press. However, high ttiglyceride levels increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, just like high LDL and low HDL levels. According to a recent 30-year analysis of National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data by the National Lipid Association, the percentage of adults with high triglyceride levels has doubled, with an alarming threefold increase among people over age 60.
