SIR - John Humphries states (Letters, May 20) that, since relations between MPs and the people are in such a state of flux, now is the time for reform.

One change he suggests is that a parliament for the North of England should be set up.

Surely this is a bit vague? He sounds like someone from the Home Counties, who thinks that north of Birmingham is a grim, industrial region called "the North".
