POPULATION
Census is scheduled to be held in October 1997. To effectively minimize the chances of manipulation government has reportedly planned adequate arrangements of conducting the census under the supervision of armed forces that would monitor the census 100 per cent from door to door. The whole exercise is likely to cost Rs.841 million to the national exchequer.
The current growth rate of population is 2.77 per cent. Population growth in next five years on this basis would be as follows:
