FAO to begin USD 5.2mn prog for 32,000 cyclone Nargis families

New York, May 29 (PTI) The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Italian Government have agreed on a USD 5.2 million programme to improve long-term food security to 32,000 poor Myanmar families hit by Cyclone Nargis.

The Italian-sponsored, FAO-managed programme would help small-scale farming and fishing communities to improve production through the introduction of modern technology, the Rome-based UN agency said.
