ACCORDING to the old adage, a trainer who thinks he has six Derby contenders probably has none. Why run so many horses, goes this logic, if one or two possess genuinely outstanding credentials? Support for this notion can be found in Aidan O'Brien's record. The Ballydoyle trainer has won the Derby twice - with Galileo in 2001 and High Chaparral the following year.
