VINCE CABLE yesterday demanded Chancellor Alistair Darling's resignation at the Hay-on-Wye book festival.
The Liberal Democrats' economic spokesman declared that Mr Darling's "moral authority" had vanished amid allegations of "flipping" homes and getting the taxpayer to pay accountancy fees.
He told the audience: "You cannot address that problem if the people who are running the national economy are themselves not above serious criticism.
