Moscow, May. 31 -- Georgia's breakaway republic of South Ossetia is voting today in its first ever parliamentary elections.
Russia recognised South Ossetia's independence after a brief war with Georgia which launched an attack to try and regain control over the region, last August. Nicaragua was the only country in the world to follow Russia in recognising South Ossetia.
Four parties -- ruling Unity party, the Communist Party, the People's Party and the Opposition Fatherland Party -- are taking part in the 34-member Parliament.
