FIIs buy Rs 279 cr shares; push Sensex to nine-month high mark

Mumbai, June 1 (PTI) -- Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) today made a net investment of Rs 279.67 crore in the domestic stock markets, pushing the BSE's benchmark index to touch their highest level since September last year.

FIIs were the gross buyers of shares worth Rs 3,595.98 crore, while they sold equities valued at Rs 3,316.31 crore resulting in a net purchase of Rs 279.67 crore, as per the provisional data available with the Bombay Stock Exchange.

However, domestic institutional investors booked profit and sold shares worth Rs 196.74 crore.
