To make its mark in the printing business, Digital Color Imaging Inc. in Akron more than tripled its office space this fall and is investing $2 million in the latest high-tech printing equipment.
The company in September bought a $1 million computerized digital printing press produced in Germany. The computer-to-press system prints directly from digital files, thus eliminating the need for film, photographic plates and harmful chemicals.
Two months after purchasing the press, Digital Color put in an order for a second system, priced at another $1 million.
