Philips Semiconductors today announced the first low-voltage, high-power, single-chip audio power amplifier to feature a fully integrated, push-button operated, digital volume control.

The new device (TDA8551) will reduce design costs associated with tenuator output control by reducing the number of components and decreasing board space.
