Gazprom criticizes gas tax hike initiative (Part 2)
CHELYABINSK. June 1 (Interfax) - Gazprom (RTS: GAZP) is critical of an initiative to raise the natural resource extraction tax (NRET) for gas.
"I don't think this would be right today because the Federal Tariffs Service has not adjusted [gas prices] as it planned to do for Russian consumers in order to support the Russian economy," Gazprom CEO Valery Golubev told reporters in Chelyabinsk.
"As a result, Gazprom stands to receive a significantly bigger shortfall than it might have done in 2009," he said.
