Even as a youngster, Gophers second baseman Derek McCallum was dangerous playing with a ball.
"He was breaking windows at our house for a lot of years," said Bill Lechner, McCallum's high school coach at Hill-Murray.
Which was quite OK, under the circumstances.
"Derek lived at the end of the block from us" in Shoreview, Lechner said. "He has been in our backyard since he was 4. My son (Jake) is a year younger."
