A conference on innovation policies, held in Brussels on 2 June, was the occasion for industry and public research representatives from all over the world to ask governments to organise a Bretton Woods-style meeting on innovation policy. "In the age of the knowledge economy, we believe that a new effort at global collaboration is needed," says the declaration. This appeal follows the publication, on the same day, of a report by the organisation Science-Business(1) highlighting the dissemination of global economic recovery plans in the research sector.
