Fitchburg State College recently honored winners of the annual Discovering Young Writers Competition.
The 2009 Discovering Young Writers Competition, sponsored by the English Department, aims to discover new voices among students in area high schools. This year, students at Fitchburg High School, Leominster High School and Oakmont Regional High School were encouraged to write about the theme, "The Heroes Among Us."
Students were asked to tell a story about a hero in their neighborhood, city, school or family, through fiction, creative nonfiction, biography, autobiography, personal essay or memoir. Entries will be judged on the ...
