So what does the Supply Corps have to do with Marine Corps contingency contracting, you might ask. Quite a lot, actually. The Supply Corps is the model upon which Marine Corps Contingency Contracting Officer development is predicated.
Contracting is a secondary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) for Marine Corps officers. In other words, while every Marine is "first and foremost" a rifleman, Marine officers are assigned primary MOSs in fields such as aviation, logistics, financial management, artillery, and tracked vehicles.
