ROSEVILLE, Minn., Dec. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- A new era of American business begins January 1 when Liberty Check Printers, the credit union movement's check printing leader, becomes the first corporation of its kind to offer employee ownership.
Liberty, one of nearly two million S corporations, leads the way with sponsorship of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). ESOPs are not new, but until recent revisions in tax law, S corporations -- predominately small and family-owned U.S. businesses -- were not allowed to offer employee ownership.
