Women who took vitamin supplements, specifically vitamins C, A, E, and/or folate, throughout their pregnancy were half as likely to have a child who developed a brain tumor before age five. The finding was presented at a recent Environmental Protection Agency conference on preventable causes of cancer in children (Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 15 October 1997). The longer the women took vitamins, be they over-the-counter or prescription, the greater the protection against cancer.
